ABOUT REXUS OUTFITTERS

Rexus Outfitters (formerly SixFive Outfitters) serves those riflemen who know that cartridge efficiency is a force multiplier, who know that brute force means a precisely placed shot. Among calibers, the 6.5mm or .264 sits smack dab in the middle of the caliber spectrum defined by 5.56 (.224) on the one end and 7.62 (.308) on the other. Not too small and not too big. Perfect. For target capability, add to that the superb 6mm caliber that combines long-range performance with low recoil for consistent accuracy.

The 6.5 came into its own using sleek bullets of high-ballistic coefficient, slightly heavy for caliber, whose mass is heavy enough for all North American big game and yet not so heavy that recoil punishes the shooter — a beautifully efficient compromise. This is not to say there isn’t a variety of 6.5mm bullet weights, because there is: 85-grain varmint bullets zip like lasers across the prairie, and the 140-grainers have long been the favorites of Scandinavian moose hunters. Competition shooters have upgraded to 6.5mm rifles, beating the old .308s to the winner’s circle time after time, due to their superior ballistics relative to their recoil and weapon size.

The 6mm is a premier target caliber, combing sleek bullets of high-ballistic coefficient with low recoil that allows riflemen to maintain accuracy over long shooting sessions — whether on the fields of competition or varminting. The 6mmARC has the same cartridge case lineage as the world’s most consistently accurate benchrest cartridge, the 6mmPPC. However, the 6mmARC has slightly more powder capacity — and thus velocity potential.

At Rexus, we offer barrels for AR15-style rifles chambered in both the 6.5 Grendel and 6mmARC multi-purpose cartridges, which are basically the Russian combat 7.62×39 necked down to 6.5mm or 6mm. Either way, the 6.5 Grendel has taken the AR15 world by storm, with factory hunting ammunition offerings from Hornady, various loadings from Federal including a Gold Medal match round, and inexpensive steel-cased practice ammunition from Wolf at about 26¢ per round.

Following on the success of the 6.5 Grendel, Hornady in June of 2020 released the 6mmARC (based on the Grendel case), originally requested by a U.S. Department of Defense entity wanting increased capability over 5.56 NATO and external ballistics edging out 7.62 NATO, at half the weight and bulk, in combat scenarios.

We at Rexus invite you to browse our SHOP. Our mission is to see American riflemen dominate using the uniquely effective multi-purpose 6.5 Grendel and 6mmARC cartridges.
