REXUS 6.5 Grendel AR15 14.5″ Barrel

AR15-style 14.5″ rifle barrel chambered in the superlative 6.5 Grendel cartridge. This is the barrel length made popular by the U.S. military M4 carbine. We do it better, however, because we’re not making the compromises they had to make. They had to use a carbine length gas system — instead of a mid-length like it should be — because they had to fit a bayonet. And they also had a cutout to attach a grenade launcher, which doesn’t apply to most of us.

Also the government barrel profile is completely bass ackwards: Thin under the handguards and thick at the muzzle. This allows for increased barrel whip, thus reducing accuracy. Our barrel fixes this with the thick section around the chamber and tapering thinner toward the muzzle. This gives the barrel strength where it needs it and reduces overall weight by shaving unnecessary thickness. By putting most of the weight toward the weapon’s center of gravity, we also improve its pointability and handling characteristics.

Our 14.5″ barrel combined with an Aero Precision ATLAS handguard of 12.7″ is a match made in heaven — maximizes usable handguard length, leaving just a stub of barrel exposed for a muzzle device or suppressor.

We love this length for performance balanced with handiness, and think it’s well worth the hassle of either pinning and welding on a muzzle device to increase its length over 16″, or to register it as a Short-Barreled Rifle (SBR).
